New High-Tech Pocket Door

We are in the middle of shooting a mod - tech - bathroom that I designed. 

Jim (contractor) finished putting in a electric James Bond 007 frosted glass pocket door! 

Can't wait to show photos, another month or two....

The challenge was to transform this bathroom into a warm relaxing retreat using modern elements.

I found these cool translucent resin panels, http://www.3-form.com/  you can select the color, pattern, texture, interlayer and finish, Vaira Ecoresin transforms into the perfect medium for your architectural application. Made of 40% recycled resin!  I wanted the dark bamboo wood to really stand out, I painting the back panel white, it is stunning - the focal point in the room!  I repeated the resin panels on the opposite wall by replacing the sliding shower glass doors with the panels.  Think outside the box! The semi-vessel crisp white sinks and dark wood vanity blend well with the wall treatment. Go to http://www.premierevanities.com/. to buy the vanity or to look at other spectacular modern product lines.  A modern bathroom design that isn't cold and sterile!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

 What is a spa retreat without a glorious tub?

I had to get rid of that ugh of a tub!  The tiles around the tub deck were not bad, so I had the tiles and tub resurfaced by miracle method http://www.miraclemethod.com/.  Keeping the tub and tiles white set the stage for a beautiful makeover!  Opposite of the large window I added a few floating shelves and accessories to keep the room balanced.

In my studio, which I have redone twice since this shoot. My husband hates going out of town for work.  Each time he comes back I have painted, stained, sanded, taped, nailed, wallpapered, moved furniture, he's afraid I would move our house if I could!  What is a designer to do.....

SLATE-ISH GREEN BACKSPLASH!

 AWESOME NEW PRODUCT - featured in my design for BATHtastic 'From Start to Finish'.

A masculine, modern, innovative design. 

Alternative to stone & ceramic tile products. Made from the post industrial waste of paper laminate. This paper laminate is made from FSC certified paper or recycled paper and are used for countertops, cutting boards, skateboard ramps, and in various manufacturing processes. Trimmings from manufacturer and fabricator processing are remanufactured into tile for wall and floor applications.  http://www.slate-ish.com/ .  I also placed the Soot tiles to the front of the tub and a 20" wide border around the room at a 40" height to add interest and texture to the room.   Other innovative design elements in room - metal tiles by Carina works.

EASY INEXPENSIVE DIY TIP TO BRING A OH HUM CABINET - TO A WOW STYLISH VANITY

I REMOVED THE DRAWERS IN THE CENTER OF THE CABINET.  HAD WOOD PANELS CUT AND PLACED ON THE BOTTOM OPENING. PAINT, NEW HARDWARE AND NEW VANITY FOR UNDER 50.00!

Cool wall treatment

 A bathroom I designed for BATHtastic

The challenge was to transform this bathroom into a warm relaxing retreat using modern elements.

I found these great polycarbonate panels, by painting the back panel white the dark wood circles really stand out.  It is now a piece of art!  The semi-vessel crisp white sinks and dark wood vanity blend well with the wall treatment.  I repeated the polycarbonate panels on the opposite wall, replacing the sliding shower glass doors with the polycarbonate.  Think outside the box!  A modern bathroom design that isn't cold and sterile!

I have been extremely busy working on 4 new designs for DIY show!  On top of Bathtastic designs

We finished taping the first episode 2 weeks ago and it looks INCREDIBLE!
