carly and josh wanted a modern timeless design for their kitchen

we know that every design needs a inspiration piece

i based the design around their existing 70's limestone fireplace

the updated stack stoned coordinated perfectly

(from norstone http://www.norstoneusa.com/stacked_stone_rock_panel_ochre.asp )

i had the cabinets stained dark which looks stunning against the stone & light countertops

(countertops from hanstone quartz http://www.princessmarble.com/Content.aspx?Page=2&SubPage=1 ) 

this room now has dimension and depth

a small kitchen that packs a classy design 

lastly, the icing on the cake - window treatments

a graphic print that was not too overbearing for the space

these are actually shower curtains -  think outside the box!

simple yet rich with style

For nearly nothing dress up your wall

white plates are a easy and inexpensive way to dress up a wall

i bought these white plates for .99 each at the local goodwill

use different sizes, shapes & even slightly different tones

lay it all out on the floor for placement

use straight pins in place of nails just in case the plates need to be moved

once you have the entire placement on wall, take out pin & pound your nails

100yr old kitchen gets a fresh updated makeover

new sliding ladder, marble floors with a different take on a checker pattern floor...

what to do with large mirrors

i have so many mirrors in my bathroom (not by choice, previous owners...)

i needed to brake up the mirror confusion and add interest

i added removable plastic lead strips in the shape of circles

giving it a simple modern look

i also added thick trim around the opposite mirror over my sink

it was a very large wall to wall mirror with no trim, ugh.

i applied the trim to the mirror with a heavy duty adhesive

total transformation
